Romania names Adrian Vestea as prime minister after rival withdraws
Romania’s centrist President Nicusor Dan designated Adrian Vestea, Brasov county council president, as prime minister after independent candidate Eugen Tomac withdrew his bid to form a government. Dan said a political solution is the right path, giving Vestea 10 days to form a government and secure a parliamentary vote. A minority government is seen by some as preferable to a technocratic one; the next election is due in 2028, with an early vote unlikely despite the opposition far-right leading polls.
