FDA raises egg recall to highest risk amid salmonella fears
About 1.5 million dozen white and brown cage-free eggs recalled for potential salmonella contamination have been upgraded to FDA Class I—the agency’s highest-risk recall. The Midwest Poultry Services eggs were sold in Brookshire’s stores across Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico and Mississippi, and in Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana. Look for carton codes P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian dates 157–184; the sell-by dates range July 20 to Aug. 17. Consumers who may be affected should discard or returning the eggs and monitor for symptoms of salmonella exposure.
