The Arrest of Ulysses S. Grant: A Presidential First.
Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States, was arrested in 1872 for speeding on a street in Washington D.C. while driving a two-horse carriage. He was taken to a police station along with his friends, who he had apparently been racing with, and had to put up $20 in bail. This is the only other arrest of a U.S. president besides Donald J. Trump, who will become the second American president to be taken into custody by the authorities on Tuesday.
