USA TODAY’s state-by-state gas-price map shows prices climbing nationwide, with the national average about $4.44 a gallon and California leading at roughly $6.09 as of Sept. 17, 2026. Washington ($5.58) and Nevada ($5.19) are also high, and the West Coast region tends to be the costliest while every region is up versus a year ago.
