Thunderbirds pull off Calder Cup's biggest upset with OT win over Bruins
Dillon Dube scored 4:01 into overtime as the Springfield Thunderbirds defeated the Providence Bruins 1-0 to complete the Calder Cup Playoffs' biggest upset and advance to face Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Georgi Romanov stopped 37 shots for the shutout, as Springfield dominated four games against a Bruins team that finished 38 points ahead in the regular season. The OT winner came on a three-on-two rush after Marc-André Gaudet intercepted a Bruins pass and fed Otto Stenberg to Chris Wagner, who set up Dube for the winner.
