The Ringer surveys every NFL QB room, ranking them by starter quality, backup depth, age, and contract value to gauge long-term stability; the Patriots top the list thanks to Drake Maye on a rookie deal with a cheap DeVito behind him, while the Browns sit last due to Deshaun Watson’s massive contract and a thin depth chart.
The Browns are shaping their 53-man roster with potential creative maneuvers, potentially waiving veterans such as Derek Barnett, Tylan Wallace, or Michael Burton to try to keep all four quarterbacks (including Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green). If a waiver claim occurs, Cleveland could re-sign the veteran days later, making it easier for Gabriel or Green to land on the roster or practice squad. The strategy mirrors past tactics (like Greg Robinson in 2019) and could extend to other positions as well.
Analyst Steve Palazzolo predicts the Steelers will bid a third-round pick to draft Brendan Sorsby in the mid-July supplemental draft, potentially reshaping Pittsburgh's QB room behind Drew Allar as Will Howard's spot becomes precarious; Sorsby's gambling-related eligibility issues and the team's rigorous background checks factor into the decision.

The Five Heart Podcast discusses the recent news that Kyle McCord will not be coming to Nebraska and that Danny Kaelin is considering a visit to Michigan State, causing concern among fans. However, the podcast reminds listeners that there is still time for decisions to be made as the transfer portal doesn't close until January 2nd and early signing day is on December 20th. Despite the uncertainty, the podcast remains optimistic that Nebraska will find a quarterback and welcomes new staff member Minnie Hunt.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a two-year extension with backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who had one year left on his contract. The extension offers cap flexibility and gives Trubisky security as a top-tier backup. Steelers general manager Omar Khan had expressed his desire to retain Trubisky earlier this year. Trubisky lost the starting job early last season but was a valuable resource for first-round pick Kenny Pickett. The Steelers also re-signed Mason Rudolph to a one-year deal, keeping the quarterback room from 2022 intact.
