Yemeni leadership pledges amnesty for defectors as forces counter Houthi advances in Taiz
Yemen’s Presidential Council chairman Rashad al-Alimi has called for a general national mobilization to fight the Iran-backed Houthis, offering full amnesty to fighters who defect. This diplomatic and military push follows recent Houthi gains, including the capture of the Red Sea coast, and coincides with government forces reclaiming key high ground in Taiz province to protect the Bab al-Mandeb strait.
