Apple HomeView’s Recipe Simplification Feature Sparks Debate Over Content Creator Value
Apple’s new $299 HomeView smart display, launching November 13, features a 'Start Cooking' function that strips online recipes down to essential steps and timers. While this hands-free approach appeals to users seeking efficiency, it raises concerns among food writers whose detailed content is reduced to minimal instructions. The device, powered by the A18 chip and Siri AI, requires an iPhone for full functionality and lacks an App Store, relying instead on CarPlay-compatible apps. Critics note the feature may diminish the value of long-form recipe content, while proponents highlight the convenience of voice-controlled cooking.
