Xbox Implements Bans for Emulator Use on Retail Mode
Xbox has reportedly started issuing temporary suspensions to players who use emulators in retail mode. Microsoft has cracked down on retail emulation after a group claimed to have found a new method to run emulators on retail mode. Users running emulators on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles in retail mode have received 15-day suspensions as a warning. Those who have re-uploaded emulators to retail mode are facing outright console bans. Players can still install emulators in developer mode, but it requires a one-off fee and manual switching between modes. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has expressed support for legal emulation as a solution for game preservation.
