Xbox Emulator Crackdown Blamed on Nintendo

Microsoft has cracked down on emulators that were distributed through a workaround in the Xbox Store's app distribution system, disabling them on Xbox consoles. The enforcement of Microsoft's policy against emulators has historically focused on removing emulators published as "private" UWP apps to the Xbox Store. However, a separate method for installing Xbox emulators using the system's paid-access Developer Mode appears to still work. Microsoft has not given a specific reason for the crackdown, but it may be related to the recent Xbox-compatible port of Xenia, a popular Xbox 360 emulator.
