Three years after building it up for the Downieville Classic, Dario DiGiulio revisits his Santa Cruz Tallboy 29er to share a restrained, functional evolution: upgraded suspension (RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate and a 140mm Pike), a now-stocked 120mm rear, a cockpit refined for a high front end, a forward-slid saddle, and a light, modern parts mix (XX1 Eagle with Ratio Mech, Roval carbon wheels, and SRAM Maven brakes). Tires swap between Dissector and Forekaster, with in-frame storage and a minimal maintenance approach preserving the bike’s lively, XC-centric character. He stresses simplicity over chasing bigger hardware and hints at another update in three years.
