Verhoeven Seeks Usyk Rematch and Official Apology After Controversial Stop
Rico Verhoeven, the Dutch former kickboxer turned boxer, is demanding a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk and an apology from officials after a controversial 11th-round stoppage in Cairo, saying the bell may have sounded and lodging a WBC appeal. Usyk remains undefeated and the unified heavyweight champion; if the rematch doesn’t materialize, Verhoeven is open to big fights such as a bout with Francis Ngannou, with Agit Kabayel as the WBC mandatory challenger.
