Researchers have discovered evidence of long-sought vibrations produced by a black hole resulting from the largest black-hole merger ever detected. The findings provide a new test for Albert Einstein's general relativity and reveal the black hole's settling into a spherical shape. The study analyzed data from the GW190521 event and identified two separate ringdown frequencies, indicating a resulting black hole mass of around 250 solar masses, challenging previous analyses by the LIGO-Virgo team.
