Drone laden with explosive device prompts security probe at Leipzig airport
German authorities opened a probe after a drone found near Leipzig/Halle airport carried an unknown explosive device; the detonator was removed, the north runway reopened about two hours later while the south runway remained closed for maintenance; several flights were diverted and an explosives-disposal robot was deployed. A second object reportedly collided with a freighter, though authorities have not linked the incidents and no suspects have been identified. The Saxony prosecutors’ office is leading the investigation and officials say there is no danger to travellers.
