NC teen charged as adult for aiding San Diego mosque shooting
Sarah Lindsey Santiago, a 17-year-old from North Carolina, was indicted on three counts of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy for her role in the May 18 attack at the Islamic Center of San Diego. Prosecutors allege she agreed to livestream the shooting, distribute the footage, and release the attackers' manifesto. Santiago was arrested last week and charged as an adult due to the terrorism-related nature of the case. The May 18 attack, carried out by two teenage gunmen, killed three people: security guard Amin Abdullah and two others, Mansour Kaziha and Nadir Awad. The shooters died shortly after the incident. Investigators say the attackers planned additional violence against a Jewish temple and a predominantly Black high school. Santiago’s actions included purchasing a white-supremacist patch for one of the gunmen to wear during the attack. The case highlights the legal implications of online radicalization and remote facilitation of violence.
