Unveiling the Hidden Secrets of a Viking King's Burial Mound in Norway

Archaeologists in Norway have discovered evidence of a ship burial within a massive Viking-age burial mound known as Herlaugshaugen. The mound, believed to be the final resting place of a Viking king, was excavated in the 18th century but the finds disappeared. The recent excavation uncovered large metal nails, or rivets, indicating the presence of a ship burial. Fragments of wood, charcoal, and a horse tooth were also found. Further analysis will be conducted to determine the age of the site, which shows similarities to an older pre-Viking-age burial.
