Lost Boys on Broadway: a bloody blockbuster saving a weary season
Broadway finally delivers a vampire musical that feels like a blockbuster: The Lost Boys, directed by Michael Arden, uses a multi-level set, dynamic lighting, and high-energy staging to drive a propulsive 2h40m ride led by Shoshana Bean and Ali Louis Bourzgui. While the score leans pop and a few Act II ballads sag, the show largely breaks the vampire-musical curse and provides a much-needed hit in a lackluster season at the Palace Theatre, with an open-ended run.
