4,000-Year-Old Shrine Discovered by Dutch Archaeologists.

Dutch archaeologists have discovered a 4,000-year-old shrine made up of ditches and burial mounds in Tiel, the first such discovery in the Netherlands. The site, dubbed the "Stonehenge of the Netherlands," was used for sacrificial festivals, rituals, celebrations, and burials for nearly 800 years. The sanctuary was built to align with the sun on solstices and contained the remains of some 60 men, women, and children. Over 1 million objects, including a 1,000-year-old glass bead, have been excavated from the site, with the oldest artefacts estimated to date back to 2,500 B.C.

A British couple claims to have found a makeshift shrine to missing Madeleine McCann at the Portuguese reservoir searched by police last week. The shrine consisted of a row of stones pointing to a picnic site which was dug up by police last week, a bouquet of white lilies and a photograph of the missing toddler. Meanwhile, suspect Christian Brueckner is reportedly saying “I am not a monster” and claiming that he had nothing to do with the abduction or murder of Madeleine McCann.
