Apple and Skydance Animation Split, Leaving 'Spellbound' in Limbo

Apple is ending its multi-year deal with Skydance Animation, the company led by former Pixar chief John Lassiter, while continuing its partnership with Skydance Media for live-action films and TV shows. As part of the separation, Apple will return the project Spellbound to Skydance Animation. The decision was made as the animated feature did not align with Apple Original Films' expanding narrative film slate. However, Apple TV+ will still collaborate with Skydance Media on various upcoming projects, including Foundation, The Big Door Prize, and a comedy starring Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Apple is also preparing to release several highly anticipated films, such as Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon, and Argylle.
