Rwandan doctor sentenced to 24 years in France for 1994 genocide role
Rwandan doctor Sosthene Munyemana has been sentenced to 24 years in prison by a Paris court for his involvement in the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. Munyemana, who denied any wrongdoing, was found guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity, and participation in a conspiracy to prepare those crimes. He is the sixth suspect to face trial in France over the massacres that claimed the lives of an estimated 800,000 minority Tutsis and moderate Hutus. Munyemana's trial comes nearly three decades after a complaint was filed against him in 1995.
