Cape Canaveral Hits Record Launches Before SpaceX Starship Hiatus
Cape Canaveral is experiencing a historic surge in launch activity, with 109 orbital liftoffs in 2025, the highest in its history. However, this boom is temporarily paused as SpaceX halts Florida launches for six weeks to prepare for its Starship debut. While the base faces a short-term drought, long-term projections aim for 1,200 annual launches by 2036, driven by a U.S. mandate to expand capacity to counter China's space ambitions.
