Taylor Swift Becomes Namesake for 12 Newly Discovered Plant-Feeding Insects
UC Riverside researchers describe 12 new Australian plant-feeding true bugs and name the genus Swiftiephylus in honor of Taylor Swift, including species Swiftiephylus taylorae, amator, intrepidus and poetorum; the naming aims to raise awareness of insect biodiversity and conservation, and the insects live on she-oaks and are not pests.
