Tata Governance Crisis Deepens as Charity Regulator Sets Oct 19 Deadline
The internal conflict at India's Tata Group has escalated into a regulatory dispute, with the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner granting Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) until October 19 to respond to governance complaints. The dispute centers on the reappointment of N Chandrasekaran as Tata Sons chairman and the proposed public listing of the holding company, which Tata Trusts oppose. While the conglomerate’s brand remains strong with consumers, the rift between its charitable trusts and commercial arm threatens its long-standing reputation for trust and stability.
