Texas Supreme Court halts Galveston County’s mid-cycle redistricting for November election
The Texas Supreme Court has blocked Galveston County from using newly drawn precinct maps for the November general election, ruling that changing boundaries after the primary violates state election laws. The court ordered the county to revert to the maps used in March, citing the need for uniformity between primary and general elections. While the new maps can be used after November, separate lawsuits challenge their long-term validity.
