Mojang Unveils The Sift, Minecraft's First New Dimension in 15 Years
Mojang Studios announced The Sift, the first new dimension added to Minecraft in over 15 years, during the Minecraft Live 2026 event. The dimension will debut in Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29, 2026, before arriving in the base Java and Bedrock Editions in 2027. The Sift features new biomes, including the Meadows and the Carapace, along with unique mobs that can act as companions or threats. This release follows a 15-year gap since the introduction of The End dimension in 2011. Additionally, Minecraft Dungeons II introduces an interconnected world with jumping mechanics and rifts that transport players to The Sift. The announcement also included a new frozen cave biome for the main game and a physical Minecraft World theme park opening in London in 2027.
