Toluca Lake Neighbors Fight Noise From Universal’s New Fast & Furious Coaster
Neighbors in Toluca Lake near Universal Studios Hollywood are pushing back against the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster after opening-day screams prompted a residents’ advisory panel and a Sept. 30 meeting at Universal City Lot. Universal says the ride is operating in compliance with noise ordinances and has added measures like sound barriers and pea gravel to dampen the roar, while residents propose ideas such as hard-top train cars and fake facades to reduce noise and enhance immersion. County Supervisor Kathryn Barger is monitoring the issue and helping coordinate with Universal on possible mitigations.
