Virginia rallies from 10-point deficit to beat Syracuse 28-25 in rain-soaked ACC clash
Virginia defeated Syracuse 28-25 on Saturday night at Scott Stadium, overcoming a 17-7 halftime deficit to secure its fifth consecutive home victory. The Cavaliers’ comeback was fueled by a 21-point scoring run in the second half, highlighted by a 43-yard touchdown pass from Beau Pribula to Da’Shawn Martin. Syracuse, which entered the game winless in ACC play, relied on its third-string quarterback Malachi Nelson for most of the game before he was injured, forcing fourth-stringer Danny Lauter to lead the final drive. Virginia’s defense held Syracuse to 17 points through three quarters despite allowing 430 total yards, while punter Daniel Sparks recorded a 52.2-yard average. The win improves Virginia’s record to 4-2 and 2-1 in the ACC, while Syracuse falls to 2-3 and 0-3 in conference play.
