
DHS Creates Rapid-Deploy Office for Drone and Counter-Drone Tech Ahead of Major Events
The Department of Homeland Security announced a new Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems to quickly procure and deploy drone and counter-drone technologies, backed by a $115 million investment aimed at securing America250 celebrations and 2026 FIFA World Cup venues. The move is framed as strengthening U.S. airspace sovereignty and protecting infrastructure and events, with expanded authorities for DHS components and rapid grant support to state partners.
