Ireland's First Satellite Successfully Launches into Space, Detected in Donegal
Ireland's first satellite, Eirsat-1, has been successfully launched into space aboard a Falcon 9 SpaceX rocket. Signals from the satellite have been received on Earth, including in Co Donegal, marking the first time Ireland has received signals from a satellite. The satellite, developed by UCD scientists, is in a healthy state and carries equipment for three experiments related to gamma ray radiation, temperature regulation in space, and satellite orientation. It will be several years before the experiments are conducted.
