Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of the United States, was the first president to be arrested in 1872 for speeding in his horse and buggy. He was stopped by a Black police officer, William H. West, who gave him a warning the first time but arrested him the second time. Grant was released on a $20 bond. This happened more than 150 years before former President Donald Trump was arrested.

He was taken to a police station along with his friends, who he had apparently been racing with, and had to put up $20 in bail. This is the only other arrest of a U.S. president besides Donald J. Trump, who will become the second American president to be taken into custody by the authorities on Tuesday.
