The Allegheny County Health Department says two measles cases reported at UPMC Children's Hospital on Aug. 27 were not Allegheny County residents and those patients left the area; non-residents are managed by their home counties or the Pennsylvania Department of Health. ACHD will issue community exposure notices if a provider cannot identify all exposed individuals. Exposures occurred in several hospital locations on Aug. 27, and those not vaccinated are at higher risk; individuals potentially exposed should contact their healthcare provider before visiting a facility and should not go in without calling ahead.

UPMC Children's Hospital plans expansion in Lawrenceville.

UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh plans to build a 50,000-square-foot addition atop an existing parking structure at its Lawrenceville campus to accommodate the growing Heart Institute and new medical technology. The proposed space would include inpatient and outpatient procedural and diagnostic spaces, conference areas, and waiting and reception rooms. The project is expected to take about two years to complete and would not impact the current helipad flight path. The hospital wants to start construction late this year and open the facility by December 2025.
