Vance Accuses Microsoft of Visa Fraud, Halting Green Card Pathway
The US Department of Labor has suspended Microsoft and seven other tech firms from the Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) program, halting their ability to sponsor foreign workers for green cards. Vice President JD Vance accused the companies of fraud, claiming they replaced 6,000 laid-off American workers with foreign hires. Microsoft disputed this, stating 80% of its visa filings were for existing employees. The move coincides with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella receiving a national medal from President Trump at the same event.
