"US Safety Agency Concludes Investigation of Dodge and Ram Rotary Gear Shifters Without Recall"
The U.S. auto safety regulators have concluded a seven-year investigation into complaints about Dodge and Ram vehicles rolling away after being shifted into park, deciding not to seek a recall for over 1 million vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that a customer satisfaction campaign by Stellantis, formerly Fiat Chrysler, effectively reduced the frequency of rollaway incidents by updating the software to automatically shift into park when the driver's door is opened. The agency did not find evidence of a design or manufacturing defect causing the rollaway incidents and stated that further action is not warranted at this time.
