ChromeOS to skip odd version numbers to stay in sync with faster Chrome updates
Google plans to align ChromeOS with Chrome’s new bi-weekly release cycle by skipping odd ChromeOS version numbers starting with 154, so the OS increments by two milestones every 4 weeks. Chrome itself moves to a two-week cadence from September 2026 (Chrome 153), keeping the browser and OS in lockstep; LTS channels will increment by 12 milestones to maintain stability; enterprise and education deployments are unaffected.
