Drunken Biscayne Bay Boat Ride Ends in Teen’s Death; Father on Trial
Florida man George Pino, 55, is on trial for manslaughter and vessel homicide after a 2022 Biscayne Bay boat trip for his daughter’s birthday, during which prosecutors say he served alcohol to underage passengers, sped through a channel marker, and caused a crash that led to the drowning death of teen Lucy Fernandez; a civil suit over injuries to another passenger is pending. Jury selection has begun and Pino has pleaded not guilty.
