Starfield's Abandoned Voiced Protagonist: Bethesda's Surprising Decision
Bethesda Game Studios initially considered having a voiced protagonist for Starfield but ultimately decided against it to allow players to create their own character. The decision was made after realizing that having a voiced protagonist limited player customization and resulted in repetitive dialogue. The absence of a voiced hero allowed the team to create a larger world with over 200,000 lines of spoken dialogue. Starfield, Bethesda's first new game since Fallout 76, will be exclusive to Xbox consoles.
