UN Water Conference sparks global action for water conservation and accessibility.
The UN Water Conference has concluded with the adoption of a new Water Action Agenda, which includes commitments to smarter food choices and re-evaluating water as a powerful economic driver. The conference brought together over 2,000 participants, including government representatives, scientists, academics, civil society groups, indigenous peoples, members of the private sector, and youth delegates. The commitments cover a wide range of actions, from capacity-building to data and monitoring systems, to improving the resilience of infrastructure. The conference also saw $300bn in pledges made to buoy the transformative Water Action Agenda, which has the potential of unlocking at least $1tn of socioeconomic and eco-system gains.
