"Testing Lunar Living: ISS Water System Paves the Way for Astronauts"
A new water-dispensing system has been installed on the International Space Station (ISS) to test technology that could aid astronauts in exploring the moon as part of NASA's Artemis program. The system, developed by Leidos, addresses challenges such as longer duration water stagnation periods and reducing limited life items. It features upgrades from previous generations of water dispensers, including improved optimization for water heating, telemetry capabilities, and the ability to remove biocide and disinfect water using ultraviolet rays. The system is designed to support longer surface excursions envisioned for the later 2020s and beyond, and will be crucial for future deep space missions.
