Meta unveiled VR Glasses at Connect 2026, a 100g wearable with a 5K micro-OLED display and hand/eye tracking, priced at $1,299.99 for Spring 2027. Reviewers note it rivals Quest 3 performance but lacks field of view, potentially disrupting the headset market.
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has denied rumors that it plans to shut down its XR hardware subsidiary, Pico Interactive. A recent report claimed that Pico's performance had not met expectations and there was no hope for the future. However, ByteDance stated that Pico is operating normally and that it will continue to invest in the XR business in the long term. Pico Interactive, which was acquired by ByteDance in 2021, has released several standalone VR headsets, including the Pico 4, which competes with Meta's Quest 2. Despite being available in Europe and Asia, the Pico 4 has yet to launch in the United States.
