Holiday Airfares Surge 30% as Fuel Costs Spike; Experts Urge Early Booking

U.S. holiday airfares have risen significantly due to elevated jet fuel costs, with Thanksgiving fares up 31% and Christmas fares up 23% year-over-year. Google Flights data indicates that the optimal booking window for Thanksgiving is 34 days prior to departure, while Christmas fares are cheapest 56 days out. Despite rising costs, a majority of Americans have not yet booked their holiday travel, often hoping for price drops or waiting to save enough money.
