An FDA enforcement report shows that of 236,192 recalled cases of Cyclospora-tainted Taylor Farms lettuce, only about 5,900 cases (2.5%) went to Taco Bell’s parent Yum Brands; the rest went to Walmart Marketside (46%), Taylor Farms’ own brand (29%), Cross Valley Farms (8%), Sysco (4.9%), Markon (3.15%), and other distributors, with additional shares to restaurants like Subway and Jack in the Box. The outbreak has sickened more than 23,000 people across 47 states, caused two deaths, and raises questions about recall transparency and where all recalled lettuce ended up.
