California family saves thousands by moving to Texas.

A family-of-eight who relocated from California to Texas have saved thousands of dollars on living expenses. The Baleks were paying $4,000 a month for rent and $6 a gallon for gas in California, but managed to snag a redbrick mansion for $386,000 in Texas. They estimate that the cost of living is 15 to 20 per cent lower in Texas. The family also enjoys less traffic, good schools, and friendly people in Texas. However, they miss the variety of food choices in California. Several family members have followed suit and relocated to Texas.
