Texas Braces for Near-Record Heat and High Energy Demand

The Electrical Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has issued a Weather Watch for Texas from June 25-30 due to high temperatures in the forecast, with a six-day forecast showing an all-time high for demand this week. While no action is needed from Texans, ERCOT warns that operating reserves may be lower due to the forecasted conditions. CPS Energy is encouraging people to conserve energy between 3 and 8 p.m. on Monday, which is Peak Energy Demand Day. Highs will range from 102 degrees to 106 degrees, with most of Texas dealing with triple-digit heat through the weekend.
