Unveiling the Appearance of Ticks and Tips to Avoid Their Bites

Ticks are parasitic arachnids that can carry diseases such as Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. They come in various species, with hard ticks having a hard shell and soft ticks being larger and raisin-like in shape. Ticks can be grayish-white, brown, black, reddish-brown, or yellow in color. Tick bites resemble mosquito bites and may leave a small, red bump. If a rash resembling a bull's-eye or target appears, it could be an early sign of Lyme disease. Ticks do not fly or jump but find hosts by "questing" and detecting body heat, moisture, vibrations, breath, and body odors.
