Fighting the Rise of Peanut Allergies in Children.

Scientists are developing a peanut skin patch that helps children safely tolerate exposure to a small amount of peanuts. Results from a late-phase clinical trial on the patch were recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Peanut allergy has been increasing over the past two decades, with one study suggesting that peanut allergy in children has increased 21% since 2010. To date, there is only one oral treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat childhood peanut allergy.
