However, it turned out to be stage 4 cancer caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). Doctors have been seeing an increase in head and neck cancers from HPV, particularly in individuals between 40 and 65 who were too old to be vaccinated. The man underwent radiation and chemotherapy, experiencing significant side effects. He urges people to get vaccinated against HPV to prevent such cancers.
