Mysterious Loon Fallout in Wisconsin
TL;DR
Loons, the state bird of Wisconsin, are falling from the sky and dying due to an outbreak of avian botulism caused by climate change. The disease is affecting waterbirds in the Great Lakes region, and experts say it's likely due to warmer water temperatures and low oxygen levels. Wildlife officials are urging people to report any sick or dead birds they find.
