PepsiCo faces lawsuit by New York AG for plastic pollution in Buffalo River

New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit against PepsiCo, alleging that the company's single-use plastic packaging is causing significant pollution in and around the Buffalo River, contaminating drinking water and harming wildlife. The lawsuit seeks to require PepsiCo to end environmentally-threatening practices and obtain penalties and restitution for the damage caused. The AG's Office claims that PepsiCo's packaging was the most common identifiable plastic trash found along the river, and microplastics from PepsiCo's plastic bottles and caps were also detected.
