New York Files Lawsuit Against PepsiCo for Polluting Rivers with Plastic Packaging

The state of New York has filed a lawsuit against PepsiCo, accusing the company of polluting the Buffalo River with single-use plastic packaging from its products. New York Attorney General Letitia James argues that the accumulation of plastic from Pepsi products is causing a public nuisance and posing a threat to human health and wildlife. The lawsuit claims that PepsiCo misled the public about its plastic recycling efforts and failed to warn consumers about the risks of plastic packaging. Plastic pollution is a growing environmental problem, and PepsiCo is ranked as the second biggest plastic polluter globally. The state attorney general's office is seeking to force PepsiCo to clean up the pollution, add warning labels to products, and reduce packaging entering the river.
