"Satellite technology aids environmental justice efforts"

A new satellite instrument called TEMPO is set to provide near-continuous air pollution information about the entire United States, offering the most accurate picture to date of where air pollution is concentrated and how it fluctuates throughout the day. The goal is to reduce air pollution and forecast poor local air quality more accurately, especially in communities with disproportionately high amounts of dangerous air pollution, like Curtis Bay. The Environmental Protection Agency sees the satellite as "a big step forward" but is not required to use the new data to shape its enforcement and rule-making activities.
